Movies in the Park and Pool slated this summer
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to see “Over the Hedge” at Westlake Park on June 12. Activities begin at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk. “Charlotte’s Web” will be shown at Paschall Park on July 10 with the movie beginning at dusk.
The movies are free and concessions will be available.
Swim Cinema will also take place this summer at City Lake Aquatic Center. “Shark Tale” will be playing on June 13 starting at dusk. “Jaws” will be showing on July 11 starting at dusk.
The movies are free, and there is an admission into City Lake Aquatic Center.

A variety of information pertaining to last week’s Mesquite ISD commencement ceremonies is available at the district’s Web page at visit www.mesquiteisd.org.
Links to photos, videos and rebroadcast information from all six MISD Class of 2007 commencement ceremonies is available.
The offerings include slideshows of the ceremonies, streaming video of the ceremonies, rebroadcast schedule, ordering of a VHS or DVD copy of ceremonies and links to the LifeTouch website for purchase of photos.

Youth job fair in Balch Springs
The Balch Springs Chamber of Commerce Youth Job Fair will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. June 9 for youth ages 16 to 21.
Arts Council slates Arts Camp
The Mesquite Arts Council has announced plans for the annual John and Alta Nichols Art Camp running June 11 to 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. The annual summer art camp offers a week of art experience taught by an experienced artist and teacher. The activities are structured for children ages 7 to 9 to develop their skills with drawing, painting, sculptural forms as well as mixed media. Campers use a variety of approaches, materials and art techniques to make their discoveries and express their ideas. Cost is $20 and includes all supplies. Space is limited. Registration begins at 8 a.m. May 14. Call 972-216-6444 for more information.
“Cowgirl Christmas” Holiday Market seeks vendors
The Mesquite Service League’s “Cowgirl Christmas” holiday market, set for Oct. 26 and 27, is currently accepting applications from vendors. Interested merchants who sell crafts, artwork, gifts, specialty apparel, jewelry, decorative accessories, gourmet edibles and children’s items are invited to visit the League’s Web site at www.mesquiteserviceleague.com for a downloadable vendor application.
“Cowgirl Christmas” is a fundraising event for the Mesquite Service League which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2007. Shoppers will enjoy a festive market atmosphere featuring juried vendors, seasonal entertainment and true Texas hospitality. The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors from throughout the Metroplex and East Texas. The holiday market will benefit the league’s scholarship fund and program of charitable giving.
