Richardson police were successful in their attempts to prevent a man from jumping to his death off of the President George Bush Turnpike bridge.
At about 10:30 a.m. Monday, Richardson police were dispatched to the scene and discovered a man threatening to jump into the U.S. 75 lanes of traffic.
Jonathan Wakefield, Richardson police spokesman, said the man, who remains unidentified, surrendered within about 20 minutes. Wakefield said he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

" The Plano and Richardson police departments are to be commended for working together quickly to prevent the loss of this man's life, and possibly others had they not intervened. "
