Collin County has the people’s champions

The Plano Chamber and Plano Rotary Club joined to host a Republican Primary Run-off Candidate Forum on Thursday at the Southfork Hotel, where about 100 primary fight fans were feted to a civil sparring session between six candidates vying for three elected positions within the county. Among those weighing in were Jon Cole and Jeff Leach for a seat in the Texas House, Sharon Ramage and Barnett Walker for the gavel in County Court at Law # 2, and Terri Green and Ben Smith squaring off for the bench in the 380th District Court.
Each shared a common value: They were conservative. Each touted a common strength: They had the requisite experience. And each is fighting hard for the right to represent Collin County.
Cole declared he was the only candidate who was a businessman with accompanying legislative experience. He said he was also the only candidate in his race with a proven record in conservative issues.
Leach countered that he was the most-conservative candidate with the deepest roots in the community. Therefore, it follows, he has the best grasp of the community’s concerns.
Ramage opened with a flurry stating the most critical issue in her race is experience. Barnett came back that he agreed, and on that note, he would put his experience up against anyone’s.
Green stood up at the bell and proclaimed she had the most experience, and, consequently, she is the most-qualified to be judge. Smith followed that he had the most applicable experience and, so, he would be the best candidate to wear the robe.
In the final round, each candidate stood and stated they were the most experienced, most conservative, most qualified, most endorsed - even the most honored.
The apron was white. The corners were red and blue. The candidates were All-American. For citizens who want strong, conservative political leadership in Collin County with the experience necessary to champion Constitutional values, the future is looking quite star-spangled.
