At a specially-called meeting on Monday, the Celina Independent School District board of trustees unanimously voted to promote Celina High School principal Rick DeMasters to assistant superintendent.
The job was posted internally within the district. The position of principal of Celina High School will also be posted internally.
It's good to be here, DeMasters said.
I'm extremely pleased to have Mr. DeMasters at the administration building, Superintendent Donny O'Dell said. We are going to work as a team to make Celina the best school district around.
The board also voted to hire Celina High School graduate Greg Sherwood as a science teacher at Celina Middle School. He will also be a middle school coach. Coach Bill Elliott has not determined yet which sport he will coach. Sherwood is also a graduate of Abilene Christian University.
O'Dell presented an update on the State's policy for dealing with students with food allergies who are at risk of anaphylaxis, an extreme allergic reaction, usually to a food.
The board will consider this policy in greater detail at the next board meeeting.
