Man shoots brother in argument

Police say a man shot his brother in the arm early Thursday morning in New Hope following an argument that had escalated overnight.
At around 6 a.m., the Collin County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) received a call about a shooting that had occurred at a residence off County Road 408 in New Hope, just northeast of McKinney.
Once sheriff's deputies arrived, witnesses told them that 22-year-old Johnny Jerome Cochran had shot his brother, 22-year-old Johnny Geron Morris, in the left arm. The shooting had occurred at the brothers' residence, where other family members -- the main witnesses -- lived.
A friend or family member drove Morris to Medical Center of McKinney, where his injuries were successfully treated, Norton said.
Meanwhile, deputies, detectives and the CCSO's tactical team surrounded the residence, under the assumption Cochran was still there. Snipers were keyed in on the house, according to one witness on scene.
It took a couple of hours before authorities discovered his absence and arrested Cochran, who was actually hiding in some brush a few hundred yards from the residence.
Cochran was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Collin County Detention Center. His bond had not yet been set as of Friday morning.
In Cochran's inmate/book-in file, Morris is listed as one of his approved visitors under "brother/step-brother."
