Local pickleball players medal in Cajun country

The seven Lewisville Pickleball players teamed together with two others to participate in the Mid-South Regional Pickleball Tournament in Mandeville, La. July 13-15. About 186 players from California to Florida ranging from teens to 80 years of age competed in the three main events of mixed doubles, doubles and singles. Lewisville players brought home the following medals:
1st Charlotte Rivera and Gretchen Ryan, women's doubles 19 years old and over
2nd Christie Borne and Rebekah Maddalena, women's doubles 50 years old and over
2nd Dominick Greco and Joseph Greco, men's doubles 19 years old and over
2nd Joseph Greco and Rebekah Maddalena, mixed doubles 19 years old and over
2nd Gretchen Ryan, women's singles 19 years old and over
3rd Dominick Greco, Jr. and Glenn Gilbert (AR), men's doubles 70 years old and over
Pickleball is a fast paced racquet sport for all ages and is regularly being played on air conditioned courts at the city of Lewisville Fredrick P. Herring Recreation Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and at the Memorial Park Recreation Center on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Loaner paddles are available to newcomers so come dressed comfortably and enjoy your play.
