COOLEY

Marcie Ann Foster Cooley, 65, of Euless, TX, passed on Thursday, July 5, 2012, in her home as a result of pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Merryville, LA, on March 9, 1947 to Felix F. Foster and Amalia "Mollie" Menning Foster. Marcie was the youngest of seven children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother George Foster.
Surviving are her brothers Orin Foster (Natchitoches, LA), Alan Foster (Roswell, GA), and Bob Foster (Gilbert, AZ), and sisters Dorothy Wood (Moss Bluff, LA) and Felice Fowler (Slidell, LA). She is also survived by her daughter Heather Cooley (Euless, TX) and son and daughter in law Philip and Mandy Cooley, grandsons Kade and Kooper Cooley (all of Westfield, IN) and her sweet cocker spaniel Scout.
She graduated from Merryville High School in 1965 and McNeese College in 1969.
She began her teaching career in East Baton Rouge Parish Louisiana in 1969. Over the next 19 years, she taught at Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, TX DeRidder High School and Merryville High School in Beauregard Parish, LA.
Her most tenured position, though, was at Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX. From 1989 -- 2012, she taught English, was the senior class sponsor and kept the official scorebook for both boys' and girls' basketball teams. As scorekeeper for the boys' basketball team, she joined them as they won two state championships in 2011 and 2012. She was always proud to be a Marcus Marauder!
Marcie was an avid supporter of her students and attended many games and events held at the school. She was inducted as a Lifetime Member of PTSA and was a sponsor for Habitat for Humanity and Bake for Cancer. Additionally, she was very active in Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, serving as President (2007 -- 2010) and at the time of her death was the Area XVI Coordinator.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Marcus High School Silver Gym on Thursday, August 9th at 7PM. Prior to the service a spaghetti supper will be held at 5 p.m. in the school cafeteria to raise funds for the Marcie F. Cooley Memorial Scholarship. Dinner tickets will be available on site for $10 per person.
