Attempted burglary ends in gunfire
By Bill Conrad, bconrad@starlocalnews.com
A man police say attempted to burglarize a two-story townhome in the 2500 block of East Park Boulevard was shot by the homeowner.
Officer David Tilley of the Plano Police Department said a 911 call was received at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the homeowner who reported someone was attempting to break in to his residence. The would-be burglar broke out a glass pane in the front door and began climbing up an internal staircase, at which time was shot one time, Tilley said.
Witnesses said the injured man was helped into a vehicle by several people, before driving off. The vehicle was located in the neighborhood to the east of the townhome, and the injured man was transported to a local hospital. Tilley said the man's condition is unknown and that he has not yet been arrested.
