The hard work and dedication of hundreds of volunteers at this year/s Smiles Charity Concert have officially paid off. The concert was held over Memorial Day weekend. In August, Smiles Charity presented a check for $115,000 to Operation Finally Home. These funds will go directly towards the building of two mortgage-free homes for wounded warriors, Andrew Litz and Augie Pena. Construction on these homes will begin in October.
Smiles Charity is slated to be one of three beneficiaries in the 2012 ClubCorp Charity Classic. Over 100 golfers were on hand for a charity tournament held Monday September 17th at The Stonebridge Ranch Dye Course. Since 2007, ClubCorp has raised more than $8.2 million in its annual Charity Classic. This is the second year that the local ClubCorp affiliate, The Stonebridge Ranch Country Club, will designate Smiles Charity as a beneficiary. This year's classic included a tennis bootcamp and Blingo Bingo night. To cap off the success of these three events, a Family Fun Festival was held Stonebridge Country Club following the golf tournament.
Smiles Charity was founded in 2008 to help build homes for local families in need, with current housing projects for wounded veterans. The results are tangible: Six homes have been built and two more homes will be started in 2012. Its mission is to bring the community together to change the world one home, one family at a time.
