“Timeless Treasures” Fall Home Tour to Benefit The Samaritan Inn

The Mitchell Home, 1896

Published: Monday, October 1, 2012 8:42 AM CDT
Be sure to mark your calendar for the “Timeless Treasures” Fall Home Tour benefiting The Samaritan Inn, scheduled for October 5 & 6, from 10am to 4pm each day. Two homes in McKinney (one on the east side and one on the west side) will open their doors to the public to demonstrate how a home can be beautifully and inexpensively decorated with special “treasures” from The Friends of the Inn Thrift Store (the “Purple Store”).

Built a century apart, these homes represent McKinney at its finest.

The Mitchell home (the "Humpty Dumpty" house), owned by Robert and Jane Mitchell, is located at 608 West Hunt Street. It was built in 1896 and over the years has taken on a special character all its own. The home received the 1997 preservation award from the City of McKinney.

Bob and Jane are very active volunteers for The Samaritan Inn and have also coordinated the furnishing of two Gateway Apartments for graduates of our program.

The Sipiora home, owned Lynne Sipiora, Executive Director of The Samaritan Inn, and her husband, Ken, is located at 1801 Pembroke Lane. They are the first owners of their beautiful house, built in 1996 by Ventura Custom Homes. Though a conventional suburban split level, Lynne has made it unique with an eclectic collection of items purchased at antique stores, flea markets around the country, and the Friends of the Inn Thrift Store.

Many of the items in these homes originally from The Samaritan Inn’s thrift store will be available for purchase. There will also be a special Christmas Shop at the Mitchell’s home.

Attending the show will give you some great decorating ideas, offer you some very specially priced unique items, and earn you a 25% discount coupon for use at our store.

All proceeds from ticket sales and purchases will benefit The Samaritan Inn, the largest residential homeless program in Collin County.

Tickets are $15 per person

Purchase tickets online at www.thesamaritaninn.org. Ticket are also available at our Friends of the Inn Thrift Store (the “Purple Store”), our Thrift 2 store, and will be available at either door on the days of the event.
