DCTA to begin rail maintenance
From staff reports
DCTA rail maintenance crews will begin a 10-day rail grinding maintenance project Sunday. The project is routine maintenance aimed at continuing smooth operations for A-train commuters.
Work will begin at midnight near the Trinity Mills station in Carrollton working north until the entire 21-mile corridor has been covered. All work will be done during non-operating hours. Weekday maintenance hours will be between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. Equipment used along the corridor will trigger the crossing signals. Signal maintainers will be onsite while work is being done. There will be no impact to train operations.
"The rail grinding project is a necessary part of rail operations. We recognize that this will cause some inconveniences to the community. We will work swiftly and safely to keep any disruptions to a minimum," said Jarod Varner, vice president of transit operations.
