Tucker Hill Kicks Off Phase 2; Promotes Trip Give-Away

Published: Friday, October 5, 2012 7:43 PM CDT
National mixed-use developer, Southern Land Company, announces the start of construction on Phase 2 at Tucker Hill, its traditional neighborhood development in McKinney, Texas.  Phase 2 will consist of 80 home sites.

Builders have committed to purchasing all available lots within the first release in this phase, with Darling Homes buying 23 lots and David Weekley Homes buying 21.  Development of this phase is expected to be complete in October of 2012, and home construction will start before the end of this year.

To celebrate Phase 2, SLC is giving away two, round-trip American Airlines tickets (valued at $1,000) to all who visit a model home and register between October 17 and January 4, 2013.

“We are very pleased to begin work on this next phase at Tucker Hill as we’re very excited to continue with our commitment for developing this one-of-a-kind community.  We are definitely seeing an increase in demand as interest rates continue to remain low and the housing market continues to rebound,” said Brian Sewell, president of Southern Land Company.

According to Trevor Cross, project manager for Southern Land Company, the community has closed 60 transactions so far this year, with the last couple of months being their best yet.  At build-out, Tucker Hill will feature more than 650 housing units.  Currently, Tucker Hill has nearly 100 homes completed, with another 17 under varying stages of construction.

“Tucker Hill is turning into the extraordinary community that was always envisioned. We saw the vision of Southern Land Company in the beginning and knew their commitment to quality. They have stayed true to their vision during the past downturn and now new home activity is back and folks see how special Tucker Hill truly is becoming. Darling Homes is proud to have been in Tucker Hill since the beginning and is excited for its future,” said Bill Darling, chairman and CEO of Darling Homes.

Since its ground-breaking in 2007, Tucker Hill has focused on architecture, horticulture and a sense of community.  Preserving the landscape of mature trees, the community offers new homes that are reminiscent of historic neighborhoods.  Amenities include a resort-style pool, planned community events, hike and bike trails, a dog park, and playgrounds.   Future plans include the addition of a premium residents club as well as a quaint neighborhood marketplace featuring local small businesses.
