LHS band hosts middle school night
From staff reports
On Sept. 28, approximately 500 seventh- and eighth-grade band students from DeLay, Durham, Hedrick and Huffines Middle Schools joined the Lewisville High School (LHS) band for its performance during the second home football game of the season. Middle school band night is an annual event designed to connect students of all ages.
"The transition from middle school to high school can be challenging for students as they change campuses," LHS band director Dr. Marty Courtney said. "We have found that interaction with the high school students helps the middle school students feel more at ease as they come to high school. Because they have met and now know high school band students, the can make connections as soon as they come to high school."
There are 270 LHS band students when coupled with the 500 middle school musician it's a coordinated effort to make middle school band night a success.
The LHS band and its feeder middle school bands do various events together throughout the year.
