Plano Moms and Sons Working Together
By Connie Chan
Moms and sons from Young Men’s Service League Wildcat Chapter are teaming up to give back the community an Ultimate Gift. Benefactor of 2012 is the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County located within the historic Douglass Community near downtown Plano.
Boys & Girls Club offers a variety of developmental programs and support services designed to assist in the educational, emotional, physical and social development of more than 4,800 area children and teenagers. With the mission of helping deserving children in our community, 77 boys and 74 mothers from YMSL Wildcat Chapter will volunteer their time and provide needed resources to restore and enhance the facilities over two upcoming weekends, October 27 and 28 and November 3 and 4. The project will include restoration of the club's basketball court, repairing and painting over 800 feet of iron fencing, general landscaping maintenance, repainting the recreation room and touching up the floor to ceiling mural, repairing and replacing entertainment equipment including foosball, ping pong and air hockey tables, painting and general clean up.
Young Men's Service League is a non-profit organization that initiates and encourages young men and their mothers to pursue philanthropic involvement in their community and provides an opportunity to enhance mother/son relationships. The initial YMSL chapter is in Plano, Texas and was founded by Pam and Julie Rosener who envisioned an organization that would allow mothers and their high school aged sons to work together in support of those in need within the community.
