Two area schools take #1 and #2 in State 5A Band Tournament-both bands from the same district!

Last night two LISD bands took the top two spots in 5A Marching Band finals held in San Antonio. Both bands were from the same district which is a unique accomplishment. Not only did Marcus High School Band take its 4th straight State Title-BUT-fellow LISD band Hebron High School took second place!
These two bands are on complete opposite corners of LISD which covers 13 cities. Both bands competed against each other at the Alamodome and were among the best marching bands in the state of Texas. LISD Superintendent, Dr. Steven Waddell, was in attendance to see both bands compete...what a proud moment to see both bands from his district take the top two spots!
Today, both bands travel back to their campuses where Hebron's band, under the direction of Andy Sealy,  will then march in tonight's Homecoming Parade at Hebron HS. Interesting, both schools play each other in football this Friday night at Hebron for their Homecoming....so you can catch one last performance by BOTH bands this Friday night during halftime.
