First Choice Power is collaborating with the Texas State Guard's Young Heroes of the Guard Toy Drive again this year to help bring the holidays to children who are in area hospitals.
"Unfortunately for hundreds of children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the only 'home' they will know this Christmas is a hospital room; and for some of them the only 'family' they will see are the hardworking medical staff who care for them," said John D. Gorena, WO1, CA, TXSG and Lewisville City Councilman.
The goal is to bring toys, books or other kinds of gifts to every child confined over the Christmas
season in one of the area's children hospitals - Cook Children's, Our Children's House at Baylor and Children's Medical Center, Gorena added. This year the guard has expanded this drive across the state.
"We are proud to support the Texas Guard and bring the holidays to kids who need a little extra holiday spirit," said Lake Scalise, manager of the First Choice Power office in Lewisville. "We invite the Lewisville and surrounding area communities to join us and bring new, unwrapped toys by our office to help our state guard."
First Choice Power and the Texas State Guard are asking the community to support this effort by donating unwrapped toys at the following collection points by Friday, Dec. 14: First Choice Power Local Office in Lewisville, 1081 W. Main St., Suite 100; City of Lewisville City Hall and Library; Garden Ridge Church of Christ; and Pizza Inn Buffet. The guard is collecting toys for infants, toddlers, school-age children and teens.
This is the fourth Texas State Guard's Young Heroes of the Guard Toy Drive.
