Take one major North Texas city, the 2012 USA Taekwondo National Championship Tournament, 3200 of the best martial arts athletes in the country, and the school NTA Taekwondo Center. Mix those together and you get a school that dominated the Dallas Convention Center this summer.
With the Olympic games this year, the tournament was supported by the presence of the current Olympic Taekwondo Team members and had the largest attendance in USAT history. Their annual national championships are where these Olympians launched their way to Team USA. NTA Taekwondo came away from this Championship with 3 USA Junior National Team members, 2 Junior Prep National Team members, 3 Sr. National Team Trial qualifiers, 1 Poomsae (forms) Team member, 1 Individual and Poomsae Team member alternate, and 26 gold, 17 silver and 31 bronze medals.
These athletes have achieved their success with the help of NTA coaches. One of those coaches is Master Michael Grant, owner and instructor of the new NTA Taekwondo in Prosper. Master Grant coached many of the athletes during Nationals to success including one of his athletes that won the National Championship gold, earning him a place on the 2012-2013 USA Junior National Taekwondo Team, the stepping stone to Team USA. Master Grant is a fourth degree black belt and has been involved in taekwondo for 20 years. He started taking classes at age 14, began coaching at 17. He wants to bring the level of success of NTA Taekwondo, located in Coppell, to the kids and families of Prosper by sharing his expertise in the sport. Master Grant’s new school offers both Olympic and traditional taekwondo classes for all ages.
Master Grant also supports the community. He recently volunteered and donated his facility to Prosper’s Windmill Project.
NTA Prosper is at 101 Dylan Drive in Prosper next to Eagle Wings Gymnastics between Prosper High School and Frontier Park.
