For Donald Elementary (Donald) Kindergarten Teacher Lori Redden, every day is a great day to be with her students, but recently she received a special surprise from OfficeMax for its "A Day Made Better" program.
In the midst of teaching, Redden was surprised by Donald Principal Michelle Wooten and OfficeMax with a big box worth $1000 of office supplies and a new desk chair.
"Lori is a phenomenal kindergarten teacher," Wooten said. "She is frequently requested by parents of incoming kindergarteners because of her wonderful reputation. She is loving, compassionate and begins each day with a hug for each student."
In addition, the school received six boxes of supplies from OfficeMax, which Donald donated to Lakeland Elementary School in Lewisville. Community recognition of LISD teachers is in line with the district's strategic design plan, which shows how education is the shared responsibility of the community.
"I was very honored and humbled by this day," Redden said. "My students are blessed by the many wonderful gifts that will be used in the classroom and shared among others in the school. The thoughtfulness from Office Max is greatly appreciated. I felt like a queen for the entire day. My students said, 'It was the best day of their lives.'"
Wooten nominated Redden to be recognized for the program, who was then selected from a group of teachers by OfficeMax.
