Dallas-based Parker University recently held its second annual Mr. and Ms. Parker Fitness contest, and Lewisville resident Nate Gomez was named Mr. Parker Fitness.

Gomez, who is studying chiropractic from Parker University, was titled Mr. Parker Fitness after a two-part competition, which consisted of a fitness routine testing strength, endurance and flexibility, and a posing presentation. Gomez is an avid fitness enthusiast that trains eight hours a week. He placed third in the Lackland Classic Bodybuilding Competition in 2010.

"As Mr. Parker Fitness, I hope to inspire others to accomplish their fitness goals, no matter how large or small they may seem," he said.

Evelyn Aragon of Irving won the Ms. Parker Fitness title. Aragon is a student of chiropractic and is a local six-time Golden Gloves champion, ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for her weight class. She also participates in half and full marathons.

"Being fit has maintained my mind and body in a balance that has become necessary to my well-being," she said. "I love everything about fitness but have always had running and competitive boxing close to my heart."

The event was held on the Parker University campus, and the judging panel included a contestant from last year's competition, Kara Stephenson; Darrell Thompson, the male winner from last year's competition; and Dr. Gene Giggleman, professor of Parker University.

Contestants were judged based equally on their fitness routines and posing. Both Mr. and Ms. Parker Fitness received a $300 cash prize.
