Education briefs: Allen resident to graduate from OBU Dec. 14

Allen resident Matthew Paul McAllister will receive a bachelor's degree in marketing during Oklahoma Baptist University's 2012 Winter Commencement on Friday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in the university's Raley Chapel.

Willa Ruth Garlow, a 1950 OBU graduate, will bring the commencement address. Garlow is a motivational speaker, childhood specialist and writer from Oklahoma City. Her latest book is "Sharing God's Love and Joy," devotionals for senior adults.

In addition to the address from Garlow, the program includes induction of the graduates into the OBU Alumni Association. OBU President David W. Whitlock will present a charge to the graduates.

With campuses in Shawnee, Okla., and Oklahoma City, OBU offers 10 bachelor's degrees with 84 fields of study and two master's degree programs. The Christian liberal arts university has an overall enrollment of 1,979, with students from 37 states and 26 other countries.
