Daniel (Danny) Allen Hicks
Daniel Allen Hicks (Danny), 63, resident of Coppell, Texas, died in his home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
Danny was born in Nevada, Missouri, on September 25, 1949, to Oscar Allen Hicks and Nona Lee Carpenter; he grew up in Springfield, Missouri and was married to Diane Bredenberg in 1978.
Danny was an accomplished photographer, fly-fisherman, and writer. He was the author of many magazines articles on fly-fishing as well as three books on the subject: Texas-Blue Ribbon Fly-Fishing, River Journal - White River, and Ozarks Blue-Ribbon Trout Streams. Danny had a life-long love affair with automobiles and owned almost every type of vehicle at one time or another, including: sports cars, trucks, vans, station wagons, SUVs, sedans, and motorcycles.
Danny is survived by his wife, Diane Hicks, daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Keith Milligan; granddaughters Hannah and Rachel Milligan; mother Nona Lee Herrell; and stepsister and stepbrother Marsha Gilbert and Jarrett Herrell.
Danny is preceded in death by his father Bud Hicks; stepfather Clarence Herrell; first wife Andrea Grisham; and his beloved German shepherd dog Rex.
A memorial service to celebrate Danny's life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Restland Coppell Chapel, 400 South Freeport Parkway, Coppell, Texas 75019.
