Tripucka in Under Armour game

Allen senior Shane Tripucka will take to the gridiron of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Friday at 4 p.m. for the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game.

Slated to be televised on ESPN, the annual high school football showcase features 90 of the nation's top seniors and has produced a litany of notable NFL draft picks including Julio Jones, A.J. Green and Trent Richardson during its six-year history.

Tripucka, a three-star prospect according to ESPN, ranks in as the nation's No. 31 kicker.

Sidekicks up to 6-0

The Dallas Sidekicks continued their torrid return campaign Saturday by thumping the Texas Strikers on the road, 16-4, to keep their undefeated season intact at 6-0.

Just two weeks removed from a franchise-record 21 goals scored against Texas, the Sidekicks didn't relent any less in the teams' third meeting of the season. Racing out to a 9-2 advantage by halftime, Jamie Lovegrove scored four goals in the win including a hat trick in the first half.

Franck Mbemba added four goals of his own, while Carlos Videla (2), Michael Uremovich (2), Paolo Da Silva (2), Renato Pereira and Robert Luevano also scored in the win.

Remaining unbeaten on the year, Dallas has now outscored opponents, 57-16, on the season. The team continues play tonight at 7:30 p.m. from the Allen Event Center against the Rio Grande Valley Flash.

The Sidekicks are 2-0 against the Flash thus far, claiming each outing via a 7-3 decision.

Americans cap 2012 with win

The Allen Americans closed out the year on a four-game winning streak, the most recent of which came on Monday in a 4-0 shutout of the Quad City Mallards.

The Americans asserted themselves 5:36 into the contest after Brian McMillin scored his seventh goal of the season behind assists from Jason Deitsch and Jamie Schaafsma.

Deitsch was setting up teammates all night, assisting on three of Allen's four goals. McMillin added two assists to his evening as well, helping set up Jarret Lukin for a 2-0 advantage with just 90 seconds left in the second period and aiding Kip Brennan in a power-play goal late in the third stanza for the 4-0 count.

Ryley Grantham added a goal while rookie goalie Aaron Dell procured his first professional shutout after turning away all 26 shots from Quad City.

The win bumped Allen to a Berry Conference-best 21-5-2 and 44 points on the year, setting up a back-to-back at the Allen Event Center on Friday against the Tulsa Oilers and Saturday against the Rapid City Rush.

Both games commence at 7:05 p.m.

Candidates must be ex-athletes, employees, teams or supporters of AISD. They must have graduated from Allen at least 10 years ago and demonstrated good character throughout their post-high school athletic career. If a nominee is deceased, a representative of his/her family may accept the honor.

Nomination forms can be found at: allenisd.org.

Nominations should include as much detail as possible to help choose the best candidates. The selection committee will name recipients at an annual AISD Hall of Honor banquet.
