Ernest 'Red' Anderson

Ernest "Red" Anderson of McKinney, Texas, passed away December 30, 2012, at the age of 88.

He was born August 15, 1924, in Independence, Kansas, to Ernest and Leora (Calhoun) Anderson.

On June 26, 1955, Red married Mary Ann Rushing, in Denison, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Red retired from Oilwell, a division of US Steel, after 33 years of employment as an industrial engineer. He was also a technical advisor for National Hot Rod Association for more than 30 years. He invented and manufactured tooling for the racing industry which is still being used today.

Red loved shooting, hunting and reloading bullets. Red was a member of First Baptist Church of McKinney.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Anderson of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Pam Lawson and husband Danny of Princeton, Texas, Gloria Mays and husband Chuck of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Kristi Alexander and husband Chance of Melissa, Texas, Tyler Lawson of Austin, Texas, Christopher Grimes of Allen, Texas, Christopher Mays of Millersport, Ohio, Paris Mays of Allen, Texas and Luke Mays of Allen, Texas; great-grandson, Austin Alexander of Melissa, Texas; sister, Virginia Hallman of Northport, Alabama; brother, Howard Anderson of Geneva, Alabama; sister-in-law, Margie Anderson of Fayette, Alabama; many loving nieces, nephews; and other loving family members and friends.

Red is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Leora Anderson; nephew, Andy Anderson; and brother, Clarence "Bluie" Anderson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, in Allen, Texas. The family received friends during a visitation on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
