Football: Carroll crushes El Dorado, Trinity up next

It was just the second round of the playoffs, but already Southlake Carroll's football team has potentially made its furthest trip.
The Dragons (12-0) had to travel to Midland Saturday to take on El Paso El Dorado (7-5) and had little difficulty punching their ticket to the Region I quarterfinals with a 73-23 victory.
Carroll was paced by dual-threat quarterback Kenny Hill, who completed 15-of-22 passes for 371 yards and three touchdowns to go with 14 rushes for 150 yards and four scores.
A.J. Ezzard, Ryan Agnew and Luke Kissick gained 53, 40 and 39 yards, respectively, and all three had rushing touchdowns.
Carroll's receivers also had big games with Mike Gardiner making six catches for 132 yards and a touchdown, Ryan Weigel contributing four catches for 109 yards and a score, and Keaton Duhon chipping in four grabs for 95 yards. Luke Timian also hauled in a 35-yard touchdown for the Dragons.
Defensively, Carroll forced three turnovers and limited El Dorado to 3 yards per carry on the ground.
Carroll will look to continue its drive to a second consecutive state title at 6 p.m. Saturday against Euless Trinity at the Birdville ISD Fine Arts Athletic Complex.
The Trojans (10-2) enter the contest having defeated Mansfield in the area round of the playoffs, 28-7, and Marcus in the bi-district round, 24-6.
Trinity ranks seventh in the area in rushing yards per game.
Defensively, the Trojans boast the area's No. 1 total defense and third scoring defense. Carroll brings in the No. 1 scoring defense and No. 6 total defense.
