Rowlett police warn residents about thefts from motor vehicles
From staff report
ROWLETT, TX -- Recently, two vehicle burglaries have been reported in Rowlett which have occurred in the parking lots of two different day care facilities during morning drop-off times. These times are between 7 and 9 a.m. Victims of these crimes reported purses and wallets being stolen from their vehicles in just the few minutes it took them to go inside and drop off their children.
It is believed that the suspects target day care facilities because it has become well known that parents dropping off children at these facilities leave their belongings in the car while they run in momentarily.
Rowlett police are advising patrons to take all valuables with them when taking children inside or picking them up in the afternoon/evening.
Police are asking patrons to be aware of their surroundings and to call police immediately to report anything that seems out of the ordinary. To report an emergency, or a crime in progress, call 9-1-1. For non-emergency police assistance, call 972-412 6200, Option 1.
