John Kusior

John Kusior passed away January 19, 2013.

He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on January 6, 1919, to the late Mary and Frank Kusior.

He was a staff sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II, serving in the Central Pacific Theater in the Gilbert Islands and Iwo Jima from 1941 to 1945.

In 1952, he graduated from Washington University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. In 1989, he began working for the Illinois Department of Transportation as district engineer for Metro-East Department until he retired 32 years later.

After retirement and for 13 years, he worked as resident engineer on construction projects for cities and transit district in the Metro-east area of Illinois. Additionally, he served as chairman of Caseyville Planning and Zoning Commission for 12 years.

After residing in Caseyville, Illinois, for 41 years, he moved to Plano, Texas, in 1999. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Caseyville, Illinois, St. Mark Catholic Church in Plano, Texas, and the American Legion Post 321 in Plano, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Woodward Kusior; his daughter, Mary Lynn Kusior; and his brother, Stanley (Jim) Kusior.

He is survived by his sister, Felicia Budnicki; daughter, Joanie Stephens and her husband, Tom; his granddaughters, Brooke and Kelly; and grandsons, Mark and Bryon.

A visitation was held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home at 7990 George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas 75252 on January 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. A private family burial ceremony will be held in San Marcos, Texas, on January 24.
