Plano election filing update (Feb. 5)
From Staff Reports
Both the Plano ISD Board of Trustees and the Plano City Council will have contested races on the May 11 ballot.
The filing period began Jan. 30 and so far each of the nine positions up for grabs has drawn at least candidate.
In Plano ISD, Tammy Richards (Place 1), Carrolyn Moebius (Place 2), Nancy Humphrey (Place 3), Marilyn Hinton (Place 6), and Missy Bender (Place 7) have all filed for re-election. So far, only two of the incumbents have drawn challengers. Yoran Solomon will challenge Hinton, while John Caldwell has filed an application to run against Humphrey.
Harry LaRosiliere, who left the council in 2011 after two terms, has not officially filed to run but has campaign signs throughout Plano. Fred Moses, the current chairman of the Collin County Republican Party, said Monday he plans to challenge LaRosiliere and will file to run later this week.
The three other council positions have drawn one candidate each. Incumbents Ben Harris (Place 2) and Lissa Smith (Place 4) have filed for re-election, while former planning and zoning commissioner David Downs is seeking the Place 8 seat currently held by soon-to-be term limited councilman Lee Dunlap.
The filing deadline is March 1.
