Published: Wednesday, February 13, 2013 8:08 PM CST
Poteet and West Mesquite each got serious tests on Tuesday, but they both passed to remain undefeated in 23-4A play.
The Pirates used a goal from Charles Ojeda to improve to 3-0-0-0 in district and 10-0-3 overall with a 1-0 win against Kaufman.
Poteet, with three regulation wins, has nine points, tying them for first place with Forney.
West Mesquite (2-0-0-0) has six points after getting a goal from Daniel Rodriguez in a 1-0 victory over Terrell.
Both teams had a much easier time on Friday.
Ojeda had a hat trick, Carlos Cardenas scored twice and Mike Khalil, Dakota Pearson and Carlos Priezo added goals in an 8-0 blowout of North Forney.
The Wranglers also had an offensive explosion as Javier Garcia and Isai Velasquez each had a pair of goals and Miguel Garza, Emmanuel Hernandez and Omar Loera also tallied scores in a 7-1 rout of Crandall.
The Wranglers have two more good opportunities to pick up points this week when they host North Forney on Friday at A.C. New Middle School and then play at Kaufman on Tuesday.
Poteet has a bye on Friday before heading into big match against another undefeated team, Forney, on Tuesday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
