The race for the 11-5A championship is shaping up to be a close one, meaning every win early in the year could pay huge dividends at season's end.

Rowlett picked up one of those on Friday, posting a 3-0 shutout of Naaman Forest.

The Eagles moved into a tie with the Rangers with 3-1 records.

Haley Rodriguez scored twice for Rowlett while Amy Parra added the third score.

The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday when they play surprising North Garland (2-2) at 6 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

Sachse, which had a bye on Friday after suffering a 1-0 loss to Garland in its previous game, will try to rebound when it takes on winless South Garland on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
