For Rowlett, a win on Friday against Naaman Forest meant it would keep pace with South Garland in the race for the 11-5A top spot.

The alternative was one the Eagles were hoping to avoid, but that is the spot they are in after a 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

Instead of maintaining their place as one of only two district teams with only one loss, Rowlett falls back into a three-way tie for third place at 2-2 with Sachse and Lakeview.

The Colonels continued their strong play with a 3-2 shootout win over Garland, while North Garland picked up its first 11-5A win with a 2-0 shutout of Lakeview.

Rowlett will try to get back on the winning track when it meets North Garland on Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

The Mustangs, who had a bye on Friday, will try to knock off first-place South Garland on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
