A 37-year-old Dallas man was arrested shortly after he allegedly robbed the Compass Bank in the 3000 block of E. Trinity Mills Road about 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Jon Stovall, information management officer for the Carrollton Police Department, said a man walked into the bank, displayed a weapon and demanded money.

“Police followed up on a lead,” Stovall said. “Officers went to an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Belt Line Road in Dallas. With assistance from the Addison and Dallas police departments, Rodney DeWayne Womack was taken into custody.”

Stovall said police recovered evidence from the man’s apartment that he had been involved in the robbery.

“Because a weapon was displayed during the offense, he is being charged with aggravated robbery as opposed to robbery,” Stovall said.

As of Tuesday, Womack remained in the Carrollton Municipal Jail.

“Our 911 dispatchers, patrol officers from Carrollton and neighboring cities, and our detectives all worked together to quickly apprehend this potentially dangerous suspect,” Stovall said. “This is an example of what our officers are doing out there on the street every day.”
