On Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, I got the perfect opportunity to attend a Dallas Sidekicks game. Not only did they win and beat the Rockford Rampage, they had a special ceremony for their co-owner and coach, Tatu.
The Sidekicks stole the victory and blew the crowd away with a booming final score of 14-5. Two of those goals were scored by one of their star players, Jamie Lovegrove.
After the game, I met the goalie, Sagu, and was also able to interview Tatu.
It was a lot easier to come up with questions to ask Tatu, because it was the night the Sidekicks retired his jersey. He stated that one of his favorite memories of all time was winning the championship as a Sidekicks player in 1986.
The way Tatu started playing indoor soccer was equally as interesting. When he moved to America, he was playing both indoor and outdoor soccer, but indoor soccer soon took center stage and he started playing it full-time.
Over all, going to the Sidekicks game and being a junior reporter for the game was a once in a lifetime experience - an opportunity that I would love to have again.
Final score: Sidekicks 14, Rampage 5.
