Strap on the bowling shoes: Event allows mothers, sons to bond

It's time to for mothers and sons to lace up the bowling shoes and get ready for some fun at the Rowlett Bowl-A-Rama.
The Rowlett Parks Department is giving mothers and sons the chance to have a little bonding time with its Mother Son Bowl event. The event is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Rowlett Bowl-A-Rama, 5021 Lakeview Parkway.
"This event gives mothers and sons a night out together to have a little fun within the community. We created the event so they could spend some time together and have a little fun," said Adam Richter, special events coordinator for the city of Rowlett.
"We had the event last year at the Bowl-A-Rama and they were willing to host it again," Richter said.
The event's activities will include bowling from 7 to 8 p.m. and games from 8 to 9 p.m. The games will include marshmallow towers, which will allow the moms and sons to construct a tower out of marshmallows and spaghetti. Additional games will include "minute to win it" activities, bingo, pictures and pizza. There will also be photo opportunities available so that participants have a keepsake of the event.
The cost for the event is $30 per couple with a $10 additional charge per additional child. The parks department asks all participants to pre-register by calling 972-412-6170.
The parks department offers a wide variety of classes and programs for children and adults of all ages. Information on the programs and classes is available online at www.rowlett.com or by picking up a copy of the Lakeside Leisure publication at the Rowlett Community Centre, 5300 Main St. For questions about programming contact the parks department at 972-412-6170.
