Softball and baseball: The Colony squads rack up stolen bases in wins

The Colony’s softball team won for the third time in four District 9-4A games last Wednesday as the squad cruised past Prosper, 13-1, to remain one game behind Frisco Centennial for first in the district.
The Lady Cougars jumped on Prosper in the opening frame, scoring four times in the bottom of the first inning before later tacking on one in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth.
For the game, The Colony outhit Prosper, 11-4.
Lindsay Jacobs earned the win in the circle and picked up eight strikeouts over six innings.
The Lady Cougars go on the road at 7 p.m. today against Frisco Wakeland before traveling Saturday to take on Frisco Centennial at 1 p.m.
Baseball: Cougars roll past Heritage
The Colony’s baseball team, meanwhile, picked up its second win in district Friday with an 8-1 victory over Frisco Heritage.
While the Cougars recorded just eight hits, they were able to produce eight runs by virtue of being a terror on the bases.
The squad had nine steals as a team, including three apiece from Mike Reeves and Phillip Albracht.
Corey Patterson led the effort at the dish with three RBIs, while Hunter Wilson, Christion Smith and Cole Frizzell also drove in runs.
Sergio Castillo and Nic Muus combined for the solid performance on the mound as the Cougars surrendered only four hits. The Colony also had spotless play in the field, while Heritage committed five errors.
