Coppell percussionists to perform Saturday

Published: Tuesday, March 19, 2013 1:03 PM CDT
Coppell ISD’s annual percussion showcase, “Purely Rhythmic,” will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Coppell High School auditorium. This event will feature performances by over 100 percussionists from Coppell East, West and North middle schools and Coppell High School.

This year’s program includes a variety of music and percussion instruments, including powerful drums, beautiful bells, and everything in between. The concert is the primary fundraiser for the percussion department, and helps pay for items such as new equipment and instructors at drum line camp and clinics.

“I couldn’t be more excited about our upcoming Purely Rhythmic concert,” said Zach Scheer, CISD percussion director. “This event gives our 6th through 12th grade percussionists the opportunity to come together and create a very special show. The students are playing some very challenging music this year, and we are hoping for a packed house.”

Tickets will be available at the door on Saturday night and are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children. Bake sale items will also be available for purchase, and door prizes will be given.
