Few war movies, let alone movies in general, have such a grip on place, and war torn Baghdad has never been so convincingly rendered n not even in a documentary. A sense of understanding permeates every level of Kathryn Bigelow’s (K-19: The Widowmaker) latest film. “The Hurt Locker” understands what it is to be suspenseful, comedic, dramatic, subdued, frantic and, most of all, what it is to be one misstep from losing a life.
